What's New?

When you have a family there is always something going on. Even in the simple everyday things there is something.

We have been busy these past few days trying to get my hubby some help. Last week proved to be a very difficult week for him. Other than the occasional day here and there, my husband does The narcolepsy was so bad last week that he missed 4 days and then also called off yesterday for a Dr.'s appointment. We had hopes of talking to our family Dr. about treatment options but were cut short. I love our family Dr. He is AMAZING. He is always giving us the best of care. The unfortunate thing is that Mike needs to see a specialist. The reason, our Dr. said, is because of the OCD and the medication he is on. The medication he takes every day makes it difficult because of drug interactions and it limits what he can and can not take. Our Dr. said it pretty much imperative that he get into his specialist and find out what the next step should be. There are only a few drugs given for narcolepsy, one of which Mike has already tried. It seemed to help him for a few days and then it was like he spiraled down after those few days. not call off work. Never does he call off two days in a row (except in emergencies), let alone 5! This medication also raised his blood pressure. Ug! This does not leave of us with too many other options. So, now we are fighting to get him into the specialist, which usually takes weeks and sometimes months to get into. I am sure if we can not get him in on our own our family Dr. would call on our behave to fight to get him in. Something has to be done.

I also tried to get an appointment to see the Dr. but was unsuccessful. My right ear has been in so much pain over the past few days, again. I had a feeling that there might be fluid built up and I was afraid I was gonna have an ear infection. After the Dr. spoke to Mike, I asked if it would be possible just to have him look at my ear and before I could even finish he had his little ear-thingy (don't you just love my terminology?) and was looking into my ears. I was right. My right ear has some fluid built up. He left the room and came back with enough samples of meds for the next two weeks. Ahh, relief! I woke up this morning feeling the meds have done some work. I hate taking medication, but I hate not feeling like myself even more.

Since we had the Dr.'s appointment yesterday, I felt that it would be best to see if someone could watch the kids for us so that we could talk to the Dr. with out distractions. My friend Stef happens to live in Columbiana, which is where are Dr. is and she was available to watch them for us. It was really nice to have someone we trust take such good care of our kids and they love her. It made our Dr.'s visit smooth and without interruptions. About half way through our Dr.'s visit, Stef text messaged me and invited us to stay for dinner. So, after our stop at the Dr.'s and a few other errands we made our way back to there place where we had steaks on the grill, sauteed onions and mushrooms, green beans, and fries. Oh, did I mention Stef's husband is a chef? He is! And a mighty good one at that! We then visited and then took the kids up to their music room. Stef's husband, Steve, plays every instrument you can name. OK, maybe not quite, but pretty close. He gives drum lessons and is an amazing guitarist and piano player. So, he let the kids play the drums and he was even teaching Camden how to strum the guitar. My son was hysterical to watch play the drums. He really got into it and had this look of concentration the whole time! It was great!!! Here are a few pics I took with my phone.

I absolutely love this last one! You can really see him getting into it! Do we have a little drummer or guitarist on our hands? Who knows!!

We were asked last month to take part in a 25th Anniversary service at our former church. We attended the second practice after missing the first practice the week before and found that they had the song that Mike and I used to sing with the choir as part of the line up of songs. We surprised and honored! So, this past Sunday was the service and it went really, really well. I was worried because, even though my throat was much better, I have not sang like that in years. We did an hour and a half of practice before the service, 5 songs of praise and worship during the service, and then 6 songs with choir. Our song was the next to last and I was not sure how well my voice would hold up. Be it like God to give me the strength both vocally and physically to make it through. It was a beautiful service. I felt honored to be a little part of it.

This week is gonna be another busy one. Tonight wee have an ice cream social we are taking the kids to with their Grammie. As for the rest of the week, I have a few get nights that I am getting together with a couple of girlfriends, a photography job one day, and a special Mother's Day get together. I know I am missing something. I'll have to look at my day planner! I'm so glad that the weather is nice and we are getting out much more. I hate being couped up!

Well, I best get scooting. The kids will need lunch soon and I have clothes that need putting away. I have some other things to blog about, but I'll save that for my next post. Until then, have a great week everyone. TTFN
