Little Bit of This and That...

Pfft! I, for one, am glad this weekend is over! We had a virus of some sorts come through our house starting with Camden.  He was on the couch all day Thursday slightly fevered, headache, and generally fatigued.  He said a couple of times his belly hurt but it never became more than that. By the evening though his fever was up to 101.5.  So I spent the night night on our sectional (as I do, per the kids request when they are sick). I woke early Friday morning to find that Merci had made her way into our room and was asleep on my side of the bed. Daddy said she had wondered in there just prior to his getting up for work. She woke, hearing us talking, and told me her belly hurt.  So I brought her out to the couch where Camden was still sleeping and had her lay with me.  Not much later she began to vomit (fun info, right?). Happy start to the weekend, huh?

Fortunately it didn't last too long and Merci was able to go back to sleep and rest.  Camden then woke feeling much better and no longer fevered.  He was back to his normal self and ready for breakfast.  I got him breakfast and decided to rest awhile not knowing what I may have in store with Merci.  Through out the day Merci seemed to be doing better and even ate some crackers and a tiny bit of chicken noodle soup.  I too felt my stomach hurting off and on and kept my intake to bland foods.  I figured if I got sick it would at least be on only a little.  By the time Mike got home, Merci was acting more like herself than she had the whole day.  She even had a Popsicle that Daddy brought home for her.  But after going to bed several hours later, she woke throwing up again.  Ugh!  So back on the couch, another sick baby, and another sleepless night.

I was thankful on Saturday that the vomiting had stopped and we made it through the night without any major issues.  Though Saturday morning brought a stomachache for me and other intestinal issues for Merci. This was NOT a good thing seeing as  I had a pretty big photography appointment in the afternoon.  Against what I really wanted to do (which was to stick out my plans) I contacted the person holding the appointment and explained the circumstances at hand.  I would have felt terrible getting them and their tiny new ones sick.  Thankfully God blessed me with such wonderfully understanding people! They actually thanked me for thinking of them and making the hard decision to call.  I hated to do it.  I have only once in 5 years had to reschedule due to illness.  So I was thankful for their understanding and they have reschedule for next month when their family all gets together again.

Not only did I hate having to cancel my appointment, I hated that I spent the entire day on the couch. I was so drained that I spent the whole day sleeping and resting on the couch.  I then went to bed quite early (for me at least) and slept through the night with very little waking.  I woke up yesterday (Sunday) feeling SO much better as did Merci girl! Both of us still have a little bit of an issue when we eat, but nothing too terrible. I'm glad the worst is truly behind us and we can move forward with what I hope is a normal week.

Since I was feeling so much better yesterday, I went on a huge cleaning/organizing spree.  Boy did  pay for it later, but it sure felt good to get something accomplished.

My Merci-girl has a terrible habit of dumping toys, losing toys, and making a mess of her toys.  So I have purchased several tubs in array of sizes to organize it all in.  I labeled it all so that as she learns to read she can see what is in the tubs.  She has to ask to open any of the tubs and must play with one thing at a time.  My hope is to keep her toys better organized and her room kept cleaner.

I just realized after looking at this photo that I wrote on each of the tubs, which I didn't need to do because I have a labeler!  Duh!  Oh well, still looks much better than it did before...trust me!

Some of the books she had stacked in several places throughout her room!
The girl loves to read, but not clean up!

Just a little corner of her finally clean room!

As Daddy and I were busy cleaning yesterday I let the kids go to town at the kitchen table with Moon Sand.  It is quite the mess stuff to play with, but boy do they love it.  They sat quietly for almost two hours playing restaurant, bakers, and who knows what else.  They loved it, as did Daddy and I seeing as the uninterrupted time was a huge help in getting so much accomplished..

And today...today is the big LOVE day of the year.  Of course we incorporated fun Valentine's Day activities to our school time.  We then ended our time this morning by making a few handmade cards for a few loved ones.  They had a blast!  As did I (though I made theirs while they ran off to play).  Later today we will make some homemade chocolate chip cookies together and I will be making them something special for dinner.  (Daddy is taking Grandpa out to dinner for helping us out by bringing him home so we can get our van fixed).

Last night my monkeys were watching Toy Story on Disney before heading off to bed.  It was so cute because they both have a Buzz Lightyear toy and they trotted off to get him so they could watch and play Toy Story at the same time.  They crack me up!   I love the ones below of Camden zapping me with Buzz's laser!

I am so thankful that my freelance work has brought me to a place of being about to purchase this new beauty!

I have been anxiously awaiting for nearly a year to be able to purchase a new camera.  After the issues I had last year I didn't want to be in a place of being without a camera for any extended period of time. So this last week I purchased my newest addition.   I seriously can not get over the quality difference! All of the pics I posted in this particular post are SOC (straight out of camera), taken with my new Canon T1i.  The last few pics of the kiddos and their Buzz were taken in very low lighting.  We had one small 40 watt light on and the TV.  Typically even changing the setting, these photos would come have out with with pretty poor quality (at least to me) without using flash. This new camera has an ISO of up to 3200 and it makes for these low light shots to come out brighter than with my older Canon.  Making a few adjustments and I was able to take the photos without any flash (my preference).  I am so in love! Ha!  I still have to play with it more. I'm sure I could have had any of these shots come out even better but they were all just quick snapshots.

I hope within the next 6 months to be able to purchase the lens I've had my eyes on for awhile.  Then, I think I will have my equipment complete...at least for now! :)

Wowza! I can't believe it is almost 3:00 already!  I still have lots I need to get to so I best get off the computer.  I hope that everyone has a fabulous week! I know I sure hope to!

Until next time my bloggy friends...TTFN.
