Well, my morning was somewhat successful but not as much as I'd hoped. My morning was meant to be spent only at Wal-Mart for multiple reasons. Mainly due to a few good deals, it is close and I only had two hours to work with. So after my post this morning I headed out. I first made a quick stop at Speedway, seeing as they were about the only ones open for a cup of coffee. I then headed to Wal-Mart which is only 10 minutes away. I had given myself enough time to get there about 10 minutes early. As a quick side note, when I went two years ago with Tammy and we got there at about 10 minutes early and got right in. (By the way Tammy and I were supposed to go together again this year but she had surgery this week and is still recovering. I missed her being with me, it would have made it so much more fun) Having that in mind I thought I'd be fine. Well I was wrong. The parking lot was full, almost all the way back to the road. I still thought maybe I'd have luck getting in. Nope. As I got closer to the entrance I saw a line that wrapped down around to the outdoor garden section. This was crazy! I went back to my car and left. I decided that I would try K-Mart. I drove down Mahoning Ave. trying my best to simply see. I was so foggy this morning you could not see the traffic lights until you were literally right on top of them. As I pulled into K-Mart's parking lot and thought I was crazy because there were only 3 cars. Jackpot! Well I get up to the door to find 3 people standing there. Come to find out they didn't open until 6:00 a.m. At the time that I arrived it was only 5:15. So what did I do? I stood in there, like a fool. By the time 5:30 came around there was a line behind me half way down the side of the building. I kept hearing stories of people, like myself, who went to Wal-Mart just to leave because of the madness. I guess the end of the line at Wal-Mart started to get rude and rough. I'm glad I didn't stick around. So as far as the shopping went, I did get a few good deals worth my time. I must admit that I did by myself something. Two years ago when Tammy and I went we stopped at K-Mart and I got these comfy JoeBoxer PJ's that were buy one get one free. Well they had the same sale this year and I had to get some. I wore out my other pairs. Though Merci is just an infant I still wanted to get a little something for her and so I did found something for her and she is done. I purchased a few things for Camden, though what we really wanted to focus on is educational gifts. I did get him a Read with Me DVD system along with an extra book and DVD to go with it. I got him a couple of fun toys, but the rest of what we are getting him is going to be fun, but educational/learning toys. I figure everyone else will most likely get him regular toys and so he's gonna have lots to play with. All in all, my morning was worth it. I use to think people were crazy and I'm sure it is just a ploy by these business just to make money, but there is just something about getting up early and sneaking out while everyone is still asleep to shop for those great deals that is exciting to me. Would I do it again? Sure, but I will be sure to give myself more time and I would have liked to have gone to more stores. Maybe next year, if Mike has to work like he did this year, I'll make arrangements for the kids so I can have the whole morning. I probably could have had my shopping done had I only been able to stay out a few more hours.
Today was interesting all around because I have completely, and I do mean completely, lost my voice. I can't so much as mutter a squeak. I was losing it yesterday but it is completely gone now. I could not talk at the store this morning, I had to whisper. I could not answer the phone all day because I can't be heard. My son thought he had to whisper too all day. It was so cute actually. I had to tell him first thing this morning that mommy's voice has a boo-boo and I have to whisper. And whispered back "OK Mommy". I had to keep reminding him he didn't have whisper.
Tomorrow will be our Christmas decorating day. It was always a family tradition in my family growing up to decorate the weekend after Thanksgiving. We have carried on that tradition with our family and I can't wait.
Well my baby girl is fussing and I should go. 'Nite all.
