So here is the run of small posts I have done so far....
July 1st:
Well I have been saving this picture for sometime now. There really hasn't been a moment, until now, I thought I would use it. I have been on a BBQ kick! In the past we always used a gas grill and I personally never really liked it. It was convientent, yes. But I did not, nor do I still, like the way that they cook most things. Also, I love the taste of food that is done on a charcol grill. So, last year my hubby bought a simple charcoal grill and we NEVER used it. It sat on our back patio for the whole summer waiting to be used. Since I have never really cooked with charcol I was leaving it up to my dear hubby to be the "Grill Master" and whip up something good. Well, it never did happen and truth be told, his stuff always comes out tasting like lighter fluid (I love you honey, but you know it's true). So, a few weeks back I was determinded to figure it out. I found the Match Light charcoal and it was great to use and easy as all get out. Now, as I said, I am on a BBQ kick! I have done; turkey burgers and veggie kabobs, regular burgers and hot dogs, smoked sausage, and pictured here BBQ chicken! Hmmmm! It turned out great if I do say so myself. It was so tender and yummy!! I can't wait to make it again!!
July 2:
I wish todays post about food would be about something good. I have not made it to the grocery store and we are plum out of everything. So tonight we just made a quick run to get sandwiches for dinner. My hope is to get some pork chops at the store and do them on the grill sometime this weekend. There, I told it wasn't much of a food post today. Sorry to disappoint!
July 3:
Yippy! It's about 12:30 a.m. and I just got back about an hour ago from the grocery store. Man were they busy. I guess everyone decided to wait until the last possible moment to get stuff for the 4th. I guess you could say I was one of them, but not by choice. My hubby came home not feeling good tonight which is why I ended up at the store so late. I waited until they all went to bed to make my trip. I picked up some snacks and cookies to take to Auntie's for the 4th of July festivities and also a watermelon to take to my sisters in the evening. Boy were they all small. I never remember seeing watermelons so small. I did also pick up some boneless pork chops to do on the grill! I think Mike will enjoy that. Well, seeing as it is so late, I'm going to scoot off to bed. Big day tomorrow. Have a great 4th everyone!
July 4:
I am beat!! It has been a long, but great day. The day was full of good company and great food! LOTS of food! Auntie never fails to impress with her spread, as you can see by the lovely racks of ribs! There were hot dogs and burgers that Kevin did for us on the charcoal grill as well as all your other sides like baked beans, pasta salad, chips, and much more. I left for a couple of hours to visit with my family. There was also a nice spread at my sisters, but I was still so full that I only shared a small piece of watermelon with my sister-in-law. It was a nice visit and I had the opportunity to spend some great quality time with my niece who is home from Indiana. We went for a walk just the two of us and Merci. We had a great talk and I am gonna miss her when she goes home! :(
I came back to Auntie's just as the entire family was taking turns at whacking a patriotic pinata that Auntie got. It was quite funny to watch the vultures tear into the prizes on the ground. Hehehe! Everyone had already had dessert so I went inside to get my share of the yummy desserts that Kimmy and Auntie had made. I only made it through one little piece of Kimmy's Italian Love Cake. Oh my word was it good!! So good, you wanna know a secret? I stole some to bring home!! No, actually Kimmy so kindly let Auntie and I have a few pieces which I will enjoy this weekend.
Well, it's getting late and I should turn in for the night. I hope to have the chance to post more this weekend. Tomorrow's food plans are undetermined. I do know that I have a lunch date with Auntie at the Olive Garden at 2:30. I am looking forward to it! So until next time....TTFN.

I've been waiting for this post! I thought I might have to come over there and confiscate that Italian love cake;-)
I'm glad you finally came around to the charcoal love. It's the best!
The comedian on TV (Frank Caliendo) just did a fabulous rendition of "Little Bunny Foo-Foo" and I thought of you;-)
Don't tease me like this, Beth. I need some charcoal food loving LOL. Talk to you soon and see you someday this week, if you do have a day, I can't remember.
Great post!
I became so curious as to what all the hoopla about Italian Love Cake is, that I looked up the recipe. You really make it with Ricotta Cheese?
I think I'm going to have to try it now, just for curiousity sake!
The first summer we were married I walked in the grocery store on a nice day and saw a little round $10 charcoal grill. I had to buy it. I went home to grill burgers, but I never did succeed. It is always so windy, especially in the spring, that I wouldn't leave the lid off, because I was sure I was going to burn down the house. Later they told me that was a good deal of the problem. I ended up having to throw my patties away because I got them all gray and gross, but not cooked.
We now have a gas grill - (which i don't mind) I've always left the grilling to adam, but I've used it a few times this summer and really impressed myself! I made pork steaks on it that were scrumptious! I also did burgers and I think I cooked something else on it...? That bbq chicken has me drooling. I just got the store ad and chicken is 99cents/lb this week! It'll be on the menu for sure.
Anyway. Sorry to hog your space! Enjoy your lunch date - that sounds terrific!
Oh so glad to see your posts!
My my! You took a lovely picture of my ribs! Such talent, you made them look almost good enough to publish for a magazine. They look so tasty! Too bad I left them on the grill a tad too long:0)
