Just call me...

Mrs. Fix-it!

I surprised even myself when I some how managed to fix my laptop! As Kimmy said, I wish I could pay myself the $130 Best Buy wanted to fix it! What they do not tell you is that there is a system restore you can do yourself if you are savvy enough. I do not consider myself a "computer geek", but maybe I am. I spent much of the night last night researching ways to restore the computer. I could not find my DVD that had back-up on it. I knew before I even started that it was likely that I would lose everything, which was the case. I had to recover back to the original state of the computer when I bought it last January. I must say, though I am disappointed that I lost some more recent pics I had, I'm not too terribly upset. It is kind of nice. It's like I have a new computer all over again!

It has been crazy this past week around here. I had attempt three different days to make Christmas cookies. I did manage to get my peanut butter cookies made the day before yesterday. I was going to make some today but my niece is in from Indiana is going to be staying with me tomorrow. So I thought I'd postpone making them until tomorrow so that we could bake them together. We are going to do some shopping first and then I am going to make some soup for dinner. I made chicken noodle soup last week and my hubby couldn't get enough and wanted me to make it again. I think I'm going to make chicken and dumpling soup instead.

Well, that was all over wasn't it? In other things, today the kids and I had a little bit of fun doing something something special. We made a "gingerbread" house!! I didn't want to do the kit and I didn't really want to bake the gingerbread (not this year). So we used graham crackers instead and I made my homemade icing. It looks a little silly but we had so much fun doing it. The kids enjoyed eating the candy just as much as decorating the house. I enjoyed watching and helping them!

*By the way, their left over Halloween candy was handy! I knew we saved some of that for a reason!

I love creating our own family traditions. Though I know many of the thing I/we do with our kids during the holidays (and other holidays as well) may mirror those in other families, it is the memories that we are creating that mean the most to me. I can't believe my son is old enough to remember years down the road this Christmas. I know I remember many thing going back as young as 2 years old. Crazy I know, but true. So, as we do things like may "gingerbread" houses or mix a batch of "Puppy Chow" and they get to lick the spoons (measuring cups), I hope that they look back and remember why. I want them to know that we do these things, instill these traditions, out of our love for them. I want them to feel secure and stable. I want them to grow up looking forward to they same things each holiday, a constant. I love these times with them!

You see this bag? This is the above mentioned "Puppy Chow" bag to be put out for Christmas day. There was entirely different bag, with more in it, that we kept just for us. You know what? BOTH BAGS ARE GONE! Every last little bit has disappeared! I'm sure they vanished along with the bag of Snickerdoodles that I had in the freezer for the holidays! So now I have another batch of each to make. I think I'm going to have to hide things or put locks on my fridge and freezer!

Well, it has only taken me about 2 hours to type up this post. My daughter got out of her bed twice already. Which by the way, she is now officially a BIG girl! She has slept the past two nights in her "new" twin bed. It was time to move her seeing as she was jumping up and down on her toddler bed and broke it! She's doing great and goes to bed even easier now simply because she loves being a big girl! On that note, I'm beat. I'm going to pry myself away and head to bed. Glad to be back and hope to have more posts soon!

Until next time...TTFN.

That Gingerbread House looks GREAT!! The kids did a great job! Where is the bag of Puppy Chow that has my name on it?? LOL!! I wanted to make puppy chow but never got around to it. Maybe I will make some for Mara's Birthday party! LOL! It is so special to create your own family traditions even if they seem to be the same traditions as others you know but they ARE YOURS!!! with YOUR FAMILY!! I love traditions and am looking forward to creating more with my girls. LOVE YA! MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!! ENJOY EVERY MINUTE even if you are ready to pull out your hair! My dad does get to be at his house for Christmas Eve for my side of the family get together!! YAY!!! I am excited we don't have to do Christmas Eve at the Nursing Home.

Fun!

Can you believe my big 2 year old son still is in a crib?

He's happy as a lark and I'm, embarassed, but otherwise fine with it.

He's going to move into their new bunks in the next couple of weeks - he just doesn't know it.

He's so active I can't believe he's willing to sleep in a cage, but he loves *my shmall bed*.

Maybe it's a monster I created - they both slept in the bassinet until it was officially impossible.
