Summer Days

This is the time of year that I love! The weather is becoming much more pleasent and there is that smell in the air that fall is on it's way. When I was younger I hated the month of August because I knew that meant school was coming and summer was over. But now, as an adult, it's my favorite time of the year.

It seems the last couple of weeks have just flown by but we've accomplished a lot in our time. We have settled all of our first floor. Everything is unpacked and for the most part ready for Merci to arrive. We now have Camden's room all settle and even have his pictures up on his walls with his jungle posters to match his jungle themed room. Now we need to just finish up getting our room done and then work some more on Merci's room. I don't feel too rushed to finish her room now because for the first few months she'll be in her bassinet in our room which will buy us a little more time. The last big project will be to organize the basement. We have a lot of stuff in storage just stacked up down there with no real oraganization to it. We need to get a washer and dryer as well. I know that will all come together.

We've been making more time to go out as a family, I think because soon we will not be going as much. Last week we went to Niles for dinner, as mentioned in a previous post, and we ended up there again yesterday. Mike had the day off and we wanted to take Camden to a movie. The Disney movie Cars was playing at the USA Cinama in Niles and it was only $2.00 all day on Tuesdays. So we headed up there yesterday and thought we'd pittle around Niles for the day. After the movie, which was cute, we made a run down to Diane Sauer Chevy where my dad works. We actually called him up before we headed that direction because we needed to purchase a new tire for our Pontiac (Mike blew a back tire going down Rt. 680 on his way to work the day before. The tire was completely shreded!). We knew my dad would know the best place up there to pick up a resonably priced tire. So we met up with dad, went right around the corner from the dealership, picked up the tire, and then was invited to go with him to the Mocha House. I had forgotten how good their coffee was and even better their food and dessert. I had a yummy steak salad, Mike had a burger and fries, and Camden just had a hot dog (his choice of course!). For dessert though, Mike picked out the most yummy cake ever!! We shared a gianormous piece of Mint Mocha Mousse cake. Oh my goodness!! It was soooo good. The whole dinner was great. We actually ended up being there for 2 hours just enjoying each others company. We then headed back to Niles to go to Border's where we found many wonderful books to read. Camden and I sat in the children's section of books and read more books than I can count. We unfortunatly walked away empty handed this time, but we will be sure to go back soon for some much needed book hunting. We made one last stop at the party store around the corner from Border's to get some ideas for Camden's birthday party. By this point we were all pretty wiped out. We headed home and rested the remainder of the evening. It was a great day and I love spending time with my family and I can't say enough how much I love them.

Before I close, I leave you with a couple of adorable Camden stories.

While we were getting ready yesterday, we were all upstairs and Camden was coming in and out of the rooms like he usually does. At one point he went into his closet and found the baby doll that was mine when I was little. I had dressed the bald baby as a boy since he was insisting, at one time, to play with it. So, he pulled the doll out of his closet and with such exclamation, gasped "Oh my baby!" He then came to me and said "Mommy, it's baby Merci. My baby Merci". Of course I thought it was sweet and replied that yes, that was his baby and it could be his pretend baby Merci. He then said something that at the time I did not quite catch and he disappered downstairs. Shortly thereafter, I followed him downstairs and Mike did as well. We standing in the area between our living room and dining room where we have our baby swing, when I heard Camden say "Look Mommy, I put baby Merci in her swing" and sure enough he did. He had gently layed the baby doll inside that swing and was slowly pushing the swing back and forth. It was so darn cute. We are going to have talk about not being able to do those kinds of things with the real baby Merci.

And just this morning while reading my email, Camden climbed up on my knee and was just quietly sitting there when I heard him whisper the words "I love you forever, I like you for always..." and he stopped. My eyes welled up as I realized what he was quoting. Yesterday at Border's I read him a book that is very special called Love You Forever by Robert Munsch. If you have never read it, please do so, but make sure you have a box of Kleenex, especially if you are a mommy. I actually found a site where you can read the story (you can check it out here). I didn't think he was paying much attention when I read him the story and I now realize he was. It is these kind of moments that I can't imagine not being his mommy!!
