I came home today to find that a close friend has been trying to contact me since yesterday to tell me that a young man whom I know (through his family) passed away Sunday. He was only 23 years old and died of a drug overdose. I found myself completely shocked and dismayed. It saddens me whenever a young person dies. It is so hard when you have connections to the deceased. I have known his family practically my whole life and I have such deep sympathy for the parents of this young man. He also had a steady girl friend and a young baby girl whom he left behind.
I was taken back to when I was pregnant with Camden and I knew two families who lost their children, each only about a month apart. Though able to grieve for one another as we try to understand the pain, what can we do other than pray for the families and all those involved. My heart is broken for this family who is in shock and lost now without their son. I ask those who may read this to please pray for this family as I know they would greatly appreciate it.
