Who wants fondu?

We had a great night of visiting and eating with our friends at the Hammar household. We had the chance to get caught-up with our friends Bev and Jim whom we have not spent much time this past year. We've been friends with them for well over three years but this last year has proven to be a busy one in each of our lives. For this reason we have not had much time together and it was wonderful to just hang out. I have to say that it is an awesome thing to have friends that you can pick right up with no matter the time that has lapsed in between your meetings. This has defiantly been the case with Bev and Jim. They are such great people and we love them dearly. Not to leave out the Hammar family because we cherish their friendship just the same. We love you guys! We also had a pleasant visit with Tammy's parents who also joined in our festivities. It too, has been such a long time since visiting with them. It was all around a great time. Much needed for me today.

So the evening was based around Bev preparing and serving fondu. Now, I have heard many great things about fondu and was looking forward to trying it.
Bev also had a fryer for deep frying meats such as steak, chicken, and shrimp. As I was informed, you can fry your meats then dip them in a variety of different sauces in which she also provided. There was also a buffet of different veggies, both cooked and uncooked, along with toasted bread to dip into the cheese fondu.
As mentioned I was looking forward to trying this meal. I grabbed my skewer and tried the bread first. I dipped it right into the yummy simmering cheese and placed on my plate and then took a bite. Hmmm....I wasn't quite sure what to think. The cheese sauce was a swiss based sauce with white wine and brandy. To me, all I could taste was the wine. I was willing to try again, so after a yummy salad, I came back with another piece of bread and tried again. I am sorry to say that my mouth just could not like it! Everyone else, including my husband, thought it was really good. I am sure that it was really good, but just not to me. I thanked Bev many times for all the work she did. The dinner took much of the early evening to prepare and she did most of the work in a kitchen that was not her own. Once again, our thanks go out to the lovely Bev for such a great dinner (even if I didn't like the cheese fondu). Next time we decided to do chocolate fondu. Now that my taste buds will love for sure!

Well, I am going to end my night here. My neck is sore due to being adjusted. It's so nice to have friends whose family is full of Doctors! My neck has needed adjusted so bad and I was able to get it done tonight. So, I am off to bed, actually quite early for me. Good night ya'll

Yeah, that was what Mike thought. He thought it was just me, which I am sure it is. You need to get a fondu set.

So now I know where Rob's desire to fry anything and everything comes from.

I am going to get a fondu set.

Oh and Rob, I think the breaded cheddar sounds much better than what I had last night!
