The Simple Things Of Life

This weekend has proven to be one of the busiest that we have had in quite a long time. It happened, by chance, to be Mike's long weekend off. He then took Wednesday off so he'd have a total of 5 days off in a row. It has been wonderful, I must say. I awoke the other morning to find that my loving husband had cleaned my kitchen and had my coffee pot ready for me. I was so surprised. It is those kind of simple, every day, mundane things that I appreciate. It makes what we, as mommies and wives, do seem a bit less like it goes unnoticed. It's nice to have time to enjoy each other and not have to worry about other less important things. Our time together is so very valuable. We have not, nor will we ever, take for granite the time we have with each other, our extended family and friends.
Our weekend has been busy with simple things. We have enjoyed the freedom to come and go, doing whatever it is that sounds good. We made it up to the pool first thing this weekend. Camden looks SO funny in this picture. He insisted that he wear these silly water goggles. Of course he had to smile funny to match the funny "glasses". On Sunday, we had a cookout with Mike's family at his parents. It was a nice time visiting with their Uncle Jack and of course Grammie and Papa and Aunt Kimmy and Uncle Shoogie (Kevin) as well. Camden got to play in the pool and go down the slide. I don't think he's played that hard before. I love these pictures just as he was coming down the slide. This one in particular of him about to splash into the water and get Aunt Kimmy wet. It's great!! He had so much fun that he wore himself out. Within 5 minutes of getting dried off, he was out in my arms. That's not like my boy. He doesn't want to miss a thing, so he usually refuses to nap anywhere other than home. We were grateful, seeing as his sleep is important to him. Those who know, know what it is like when he doesn't get sleep. After his hour long nap we headed home for just a short while to freshen up. We then headed over to my best friends parents house. Her parents live just off of Tippecanoe Country Club's golf course. Every 4th of July weekend, the country club sets off their own fireworks display. We have watched them with her family for years. We got to their house around 8:30 and had the chance to visit with her brother who was home from New York City with his fiance. It was nice to meet his girlfriend and congratulate them. After several golf cart shuttles out to the greens, we watched a great fireworks display. Just as the finale was coming to an end, the rain began. It was quite funny trying to get 3 trips of people back before the rain really came down. This picture was taken of Mike and the kids. Camden loves his best friend Noelle. It's too bad that he wasn't looking at the camera for the picture.

These last few pics were taken the other night when he had his bath. He loves to paint with watercolors and I love to encourage his imagination.

This night in particular I was not up for the mess that would come from painting. I'm sure I'm not the only mom to come up with this idea, but I decided that he could paint in the tub. Watercolors do not stain and clean up easy with water so why not? It was such a great idea and Camden loved coloring on the walls in the tub. Of course we had to have a sure understanding that we only do this in the tub and not anywhere else. He loves to be creative and this was another way for him to express that creativity. I think I may have started something though, because he has asked every night to get a bath and paint!! :0)

So there is my very lengthy run down of our holiday weekend so far. I'm sure we will have more to post about in a couple of days. Today we will be heading to Auntie and Uncle Frank's for the afternoon and the off to our best friends, the Hammar, for more fellowship and fireworks. I hope that all of you have a wonderful holiday, however you may spend it. Happy 4th to you.

Isn't it interesting that we have the exact same slide thing out in our front yard and we fill up a pool and put it at the end of the slide just like you did. Actually the picture I put up of Jackson in the pool with waterballoons was taken in the pool at the end of that slide. Anyway, I think it is funny how we seem to always be connected by words, or thoughts, or this time by things. I found it interesting. Anyway, thanks for the pictures. I can't figure out who Camden looks like, he kind of looks like Mike, but I see you in him too. I really hope I can come up at the end of this month for a day or two and see you guys. Okay, I'll talk to you later. Love You!!-Kristen
